Cellulite is an irritatingly difficult beast to tame. If dimpled skin mocks you every time you slip into your bathing suit, there is a simple solution. A coffee scrub is a wonderfully easy item to procure and will provide firmer, tighter skin for an extended period of time. Once the effects wear off, it’s a quick process of reapplying the scrub to renew the appearance of tight, smooth skin.
So, why does it have to be coffee or caffeine? The answer is basic science. Caffeine has the ability to constrict small blood vessels and reduce inflammation. Since it is a stimulant, it does approximately the same thing for the skin as it does for the nervous system when ingested, making the body feel “wired” or tightening the skin via dehydration.
How to Make At-Home Caffeine Scrubs?
There are some scrubs for sale, but for those spend thrifts out there, here is a straight forward recipe for making your own coffee scrub from home. It takes about 15 minutes to make and is easy to apply.
You will need olive oil, half a cup of coffee grounds, and a quarter cup of brown sugar.
First, apply the olive oil directly to the areas of the body with cellulite. Second, mix ordinary coffee grounds with brown sugar. A general mixing bowl will work well for this step. Once they are mixed together, rub the mixture on the same places you applied the olive oil, making sure to use circular motions. It is best to do this in the shower to avoid making a huge mess of your bathroom.
Do this treatment at least a few times a week to see a noticeable difference and keep in mind this is a temporary fix, not a permanent solution.
Beyond Caffeine Scrubs
Although the coffee scrub has its benefits, the downside is its impermanence. The scrub can be reapplied repeatedly, but this quickly becomes tiresome and the results aren’t as deep or noticeable as other caffeine-based cellulite treatment products. In many cases, serums or creams have a more intensive and long lasting effect. If cellulite is a severe problem and you are having confidence and self-esteem issues resulting from cellulite, it may be a good idea to consider a more permanent option.
Many people struggle to find the right cellulite treatment for their particular cellulite problems, but unfortunately, trial and error is often the best route to take to find a treatment that works. Be wary of products which claim overnight or immediate results. Moreover, it is a good idea to check the ingredients in any caffeine cellulite reduction product. If the product doesn’t have a caffeine amount of 5% or less, then it isn’t worth your time or money.
As a first-time user, consider the coffee scrub as a kind of test. If the results of the scrub are positive, then consider moving up to more expensive products engineered to reduce or remove cellulite.
